Indonesia is one of Asia Pacific's most vibrant democracies that has maintained its political stability and emerged as a confident middle-income country. With a population of more than 258 million in July 2016 (estimated), Indonesia continues to post significant economic growth. During the global financial crisis, Indonesia outperformed its regional neighbors and joined China and India as the only G20 members posting growth. The country's economy baseline outlook for growth is expected to increase to 4.8 percent in 2015 (estimated).

In September 2015, as part of Festival of India, an initiative of the Embassy of India in Indonesia to promote Indian Culture in Indonesia, TIE UPS International in coordination with Embassy of India in Indonesia and Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Indonesia successfully organized and initiated 1st Incredible India Higher Education Fair (IIEF) in Indonesia. IIEF was a part of a series of events undertaken by Embassy of India in Indonesia under Festival of India. The event obtained very positive feedback from Exhibitor and Events. IIEF in Jakarta was very successful, there were more than 2,300 visitors / footfalls.

Following the previous success, IIEF conducted its second fair in coordination with Embassy of India in Indonesia and Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Indonesia in March 2016. There is a growing interest among the Indonesian students to study in India among middle class Indonesian students / families as an alternative destination to pursue excellent quality of higher education.

Based on registration data, there have been more than 2,000 visitors at the fair each year.
